Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

So I got this today and I cannot wait to get stuck into this book 😈. It’s been so long since I experienced a Harry Potter book for the first time and this is the first play that I am actually really keen to read

The 100

The100characterposterThis is the freaking best TV show I’ve ever watched in my life ever I swear!! One of my friends recommended it to me and at first I was pretty skeptical about it because she had made it out to sound like it was the best TV series ever so I obviously had my doubts, but as soon as I watched the first episode I was so utterly and completely hooked. I needed to watch the next episode to find out what the hell was going to happen next. Basically I binged watched both season 1 and season 2 on Netflix and got through them both in less than a week.

By the way from now on there will be spoilers for seasons 1 and 2 so if you haven’t watched them I recommend that you stop at this point and go and watch it on Netflix or whatever else you watch it on. You will not regret it I swear!! 😀 The absolutely best and most favourite thing about this TV series is the amount of action that it has and how there are no ‘aliens’ and all that sh*t like every other freaking sci-fi movie/ TV show. I have such a soft spot for all things assassin related and I think that The 100 does kind of count as an assassin related thing, I mean I swear that at least 1 person dies each episode (I love that about this series, a little sadistic but eh 😀 )

When Charlotte kills Wells I was like ohh SH*T!! WTF just happened. Why!!?? What have you done!! And then Murphy gets the blame resulting in Bellamy hanging Murphy which then starts all this sh*t and then I’m all like awww sh*t! Murphy gets banished and Charlotte commits suicide and everything is just so fast paced and action packed I do not understand how anyone could not like this series (unless you really don’t feel too comfortable with watching people die but eh! 😀 )

Favourite scene out of both seasons that I have watched so far is the scene where Clarke kills Finn so that he won’t be tortured. I found that to be such a massively good part of the story. Clarke is realistic and doesn’t let her emotions rule her actions in that scene and it really just impressed me so much. Clarke knew that if she freed Finn or killed Lexa it would result in a war that her people could not possibly win and so she made the hard but right decision of killing the man that she loves.

The last episode of season 2 ends with half of a cliff hanger I guess with us not knowing where Clarke is going to go or what she is going to do and with Thelonious finding that house and then the lady saying that he had brought her a present. I NEED TO KNOW MORE!! I need season 3 so bad to come out right now so I can watch it and love and obsess over it. Seriously I will die real soon if I don’t get season 3 soon. I just can’t get over how good this show is with all the killings and action and just everything that makes up The 100. EVERYTHING IS SO GOOD I CAN’T EVEN!!! I’m sure that a lot of people agree with me because I mean come on it’s so goooood!!

Sorry for all this rambling and stupid fangirl talk, I just needed to get it all out and this is how I do it 😀 Thanks for reading until the end and sorry if I did bore you but just in case you didn’t get the message.. I LOVE THE 100 ❤

P.S I’m writing this at 12:40am in the morning, the day that we go back to school and I can’t get to sleep with my holiday sleeping schedule where I sleep at like 3am and get up at 10am …

Book Haul #2

Book Haul 2Once again, somehow I managed to pick up a few
books when I went out yesterday. They were unplanned but I have no regrets because books ❤ ahahahaha. Although it is a mini book haul, it is a haul nonetheless so I though I would share (because sharing is caring right?! :D).

Book 1: Carry On by Rainbow RowellCarry on

I don’t have a very good idea of what this book is about but I re
ally want to read a Rainbow Rowell novel as there has been a lot of hype around her books and shamefully I admit that I have not read a single one of her works. From reading the blurb I still don’t really understand what the book is about but I think that it is the piece that the main character in Fangirl was working on or something along the lines of that. Even though I really have no idea what Carry On is about, I’m still excited to read it. 😀

Simon Snow is the worst chosen one who’s ever been chosen.

That’s what his roommate, Baz, says. And Baz might be evil and a vampire and a complete git, but he’s probably right.

Half the time, Simon can’t even make his wand work, and the other half, he sets something on fire. His mentor’s avoiding him, his girlfriend broke up with him, and there’s a magic-eating monster running around wearing Simon’s face. Baz would be having a field day with all this, if he were here—it’s their last year at the Watford School of Magicks, and Simon’s infuriating nemesis didn’t even bother to show up.

Book 2: Shadow Study by Maria V. Snyder

Shadow StudyI believe this book is the first book in a spin off series of the Poison Study series. It still follows Yelena and Valek but something happens to place Valek’s life in danger and on top of that magic somehow vanishes, taking Yelena on a journey to try and save both. I think this is the first book of the Soulfinder series and I am looking forward to reading it, even though once again I don’t really understand what is happening but nonetheless, I like the Poison Study series so I think it’s safe to assume that I will quite enjoy reading the Soulfinder series 😀

Once, only her own life hung in the balance…

When Yelena was a poison taster, her life was simpler. She survived to become a vital part of the balance of power between rival countries Ixia and Sitia.

Now she uses her magic to keep the peace in both lands—and protect her relationship with Valek.
Suddenly, though, dissent is rising. And Valek’s job—and his life—are in danger.
As Yelena tries to uncover her enemies, she faces a new challenge: her magic is blocked. And now she must find a way to keep not only herself but all that she holds dear alive.

Book 3: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

I already have a copy of this sitting on my bookshelf but I City of Bones Film Covercouldn’t resist buying this
particular copy mainly for two reasons. 1. This is the film cover of the film City of Bones and I really doubt that anyone is selling these anymore so I just had to because I had to 😛 2. 13th of January is the day that Shadowhunters was released on Netflix and once again I had to celebrate and to do that, I obviously bought some more books ahahaha

I don’t really remember what happens in the the City of Bones because I read it 2 or 3 years ago and so all the books in the series and what happens in each individual book is blurred and jumbled together so I gotta read the blurb and remind myself 😀

Basically, Clary Fray discovers a wold of demons, warlocks, vampires, half human half angels called shadowhunters. Pulled into their world through intrigue and vengeance for her mothers kidnapping, Clary discovers a lot more about herself and her mother’s past than she could ever imagine.

I love this series and every other Cassandra Clare book every written. This world is fascinating an incredible and I just love it to bits. The Infernal Devices is a spin off (ish) series to the Mortal Instruments and is set in the old
er days of the Shadow World. Everyone who like fantasy and books similar to fantasy need to read this series, seriously it’s so good and now they have made a TV show based on this series is just more motivation for people to read it (I hope ahahaha)

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know…

Shadowhunters <3

I can’t believe that Shadowhunters is premiering tomorrow and coming out on Netflix in 2 days. Why do I have to wait an extra day until I can see it?! Why Australia why?!?! I am a massive fan of The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices and every other Cassandra Clare thing, I love her and her writing and I just love her ❤ I’ve been so excited for this TV show to finally premiere ever since I found out about it becoming a TV series. I was squealing and flapping my arms (as you do when you fangirl) when the first stills were released and still am actually whenever new sneak peeks and content is released.

From what I have seen, the TV series has changed a few things, at first I was a little mad but then I had to remind myself to not to judge anything for now because it might end up being really good. Now after thinking about it for a while, the changes are starting to look pretty promising and I know that there were definitely going to be some changes but hey, so far this series is looking pretty promising. I just hope that it lives up to my expectations of it.

(writing this at 12 am so it still counts as 1 more day to its premiere right?? :D)

Book Haul #1

Book Haul 1So today I decided to go out with some of my girlfriends to Erina Fair just to chill and hangout, you know the usual. But instead of just grabbing a drink and walking through the shopping centre gossiping about other people, guess what we did?! We decided to buy some books. I don’t know how it came to this and how it happened it just did. So there we were having a great old time laughing at the stupid things that we were doing but then before we know it, all three of us are leaving the shopping centre with at least 8 books each (two of us had 8, one had 9). In total I would say that I spent around $80 on books today. My poor bank balance.  😥

The Shadowhunter's CodexBook 1: The Shadowhunter’s Codex by Cassandra Clare and Joshua Lewis

This book is essentially a training manual used by the Nephlim. This book is mentioned a few times in Cassandra Clare’s books and really is only there for those fans who are super interested in the codex. The Codex does not contribute to the plot of either The Mortal Instruments Series or the Infernal Devices, instead it just provides an insight to the ways that shadowhunters are supposed to train and rules that they are supposed to abide by. The book also has little bits of writing that someone has scrawled in (some what similar to an annotation but not really) and i really think that it engages the reader to a certain extent (and not to mention I love reading books that someone has ‘written’ in).

Their Fractured LightBook 2: Their Fractured Light by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

Their Fractured Light is the third installment in the Starbound trilogy and is about the journey of two young characters Gideon Marchant and Sofia Quinn and their ‘quest’ to take down La Roux Industries. The protagonists of the past two books will also meet and all of these characters will bring a serious fight to the La Roux Industries and we will see what becomes of this hopefully in this book. Really excited to read this, I really liked the previous two books and a lot of people are talking up this book, so can’t wait to dive right into it. 😀

The Scorch TrialsBook 3: Scorch Trials by James Dashner

This book is the second book in the Maze Runner Trilogy and follows the journey of the Gladers through the Scorch and their mission on escaping from WICKED. They are to brave the Scorch and hopefully survive through the heat and the cranks that roam freely on the terrain. Through many events that occur, they find out a lot more information about WICKED and their plans etc. I don’t really want to say more because if I do I might spoil it because I have already read the whole series including the prequel (The Kill Order) and I’m not too sure what happens in Scorch Trials and what happens in The Death Cure 😀 I just needed to get it because look that this film cover! It is gorgeous and it’s so soft and wonderful so of course I had to get it!! 😀

Queen of ShadowsBook 4: Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas

Queen of Shadows is the 4th volume in the Throne of Glass series and follows the journey of Celaena Sardothien, who now finally embraces her identity of Aelin Galathynius, who will fight to free her people and the people that she loves and cares about . To be honest I do not know very much of what is going to happen in this book but I am really looking forward to reading it because I have loved all the books previous in this series and I really just cannot wait to read it and find out more!!! (The cover is also very pretty :P)

The Assassin's BladeBook 5: The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Mass

This book is the prequel to the Throne of Class series and contains five novellas about Celaena’s life before Throne of Glass. I don’t really think there is much more to say so I’ll leave it at that! 😀

Crown of MidnightBook 6: Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas

Crown of Midnight is the second book in the Throne of Glass series and is about the story of Celaena Sardothien, the king’s new champion. Celaena is ordered by the king to kill numerous amounts of people and no one questions her loyalty to the King, not Prince Dorian or the guard Chaol. She has to make a difficult decision which will then set the course for who she trusts and who she fights for. I’ve already read this and I love it and I really recommend this to everyone!!

Throne of GlassBook 7: Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

The first installments of the Throne of Glass series, Celaena Sardothien is taken from the salt mines where she was sentenced for her crimes and is dragged in front of the Crown Prince to be put in a competition for her freedom but the deaths of some of her competitors leads her to uncover some mysterious truths, which will hopefully help her find out who the killer in the castle is before she gets killed herself. This is an absolutely fabulous book and is seriously just min blowing. I could not get enough of it and it was just great reading it so I highly highly highly encourage everyone to read this and I guarantee that you will like it 😀

Heir of FireBook 8: Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

Heir of Fire is the 3rd volume in the Throne of Glass series. Celaena has to travel to a new land to brave and confront the truth about herself that she buries so deeply inside herself. With monsters and a war marching to the doorstep of Celaena’s kingdom, she will try and find a way to stop them, possibly at all costs. Through her journey, in this book a lot is revealed about Celaena and her past and why she has become who she is now. This was a fantastic read and like every other Throne of Glass book I have read, I highly recommend this to everyone. 😀

Thank you to Meera who forced it upon me to read Throne of Glass because without her, I would not have experienced the feels that I felt when I read this series and I am really grateful for it, so thank you so much and everyone reading this please go and read it. You will not regret it!!

Thank you for all of you who have stuck around for this long. Hope you enjoyed my little haul as much as I did 😛

-Nancy ❤ xx

Winter - Marissa MeyerOh my freaking god!! I finished Winter today around midday-ish and since then all I can think about is what happened in the book. I can’t be productive and do something that I need to do like clean my room or anything so I was like ‘Hey! Why not use this time to write another post?!’.

Winter is the 4th novel in the Lunar Chronicles so if you haven’t read up to this book, hurry up and read it already and if you haven’t even read Cinder (the first book of the series) you need to RIGHT NOW! I promise you that you will not regret it and I can definitely say (for myself at least and most people do seem to agree with me) that the books get better and better as you go along reading this series. Anyways a little bit off topic so now we are back on track, Winter is the last book of the Lunar Chronicles (what I am aware of anyway) and so it would be fair to assume that everything is set to end and give us, the readers closure of what has happened in the previous novels and what not. (This is the point where you stop reading this post if you have not read up to Cress). So we know that Cinder has decided to make a plan to stage an uprising on Lunar (I feel so bad not knowing if this is the right term to describe the moon please tell me if I am right or wrong :/) and that she plans to overthrow Levana and once she does, she intends to claim the throne as Selene, the rightful heir to the throne. In Winter, we are obviously introduced to a girl named Winter and her role and story that we follow in this book has similar elements to Snow White, the fairytale with the wicked, jealous step-mother and what not.

From now on there will be spoilers so people who haven’t read Winter, go and read it now 😀 From this point forward, there will most likely be me rambling on about how wonderful a job that Marissa Meyer has done with writing Winter and me just fangirling over all the ships that happen in this book and just all the feeelsss. (I’m sure a lot of you can relate :P)

First things first, on page 800 (I think so anyway), Thorne has finally professed his love for Cress and when I read that part I could not stop fangirling and smiling and just basically looking like an idiot in my room. I was flapping my arms about to try and contain my excitement and little squeals came out of my mouth (much to my embarrassment even though I was alone) and I just couldn’t. They are my OTP in this particular series (other than Wolf and his tomatoes) and when they both finally told each other that they loved the other I couldn’t handle my feels. They are so cute and I just can’t even. Right now typing this about Cress and Thorne has me all giddy and excited.

Now I have finished (sort of) with Cress and Thorne, Scarlet and Wolf ❤ *sighh*  I love those two and the way that they have endured everything and I mean everything that has been thrown into their relationship. I mean Wolf got turned into a freaking wolf hybrid (even more than he was before) and yet his love and instinct to protect Scarlet really made me warm and fuzzy as well as Scarlet’s unconditional love for him. If every couple was like that, it would seriously be a perfect world. The way that they both handled their situations was just perfect really. There really is nothing more to say about those two except that they are just absolutely perfect together.

Jacin and Winter are also so cute together and how they both in the end feel so protective towards each other is absolutely perfect. I like how Winter refused to use her gift at all and then once she did use it to save Jacin, she completely lost it. It made sense with the muscle explanation that the doctor gave Jacin and I swear Marissa Meyer has thought of every as everything that she has written take the consequences into account and everything makes sense.  Cinder and Kai are although last to be mentioned, are certainly not the least I mean come on, they are both royalty after all and we have stuck with these two for all four books. I love how their relationship is so trusting and kind (does that even make any sense?). They both see what needs to be done and they get it done without too much nonsense hehehe (something I wish that I would be able to do every time that I see something that needs to be done). Once again Kai’s unconditional love for Cinder also makes me all happy inside to know that they really do love each other and would do anything for each other (but every other couple would so…)

Overall, I really love this book and all the characters in it, the new ones and the old ones. The character development that they have all gone through is amazing and they all have such a depth of character in each and every one of them. Marissa Meyer has seriously done a wonderful job writing this novel, and I’m positive that I am not alone when I say this.

Check out my review on Winter here

P.S I absolutely love the part when Thorne meets Winter and Marissa writes something along the lines that ‘Thorne couldn’t stand the thought of anyone being more attractive than him’ or something like that. Just thought you all needed to know this little piece of information ahahaha

P.P.S So sorry for this gigantic post and thank you so much if you have even bothered to read all of this, just hope I didn’t bore you all too much

Love you all

– Nancy ❤

Happy New Year!!

It’s 2016!! A new year and a new blog (hopefully not a horrible one at that). I’m all up for trying something new and different and writing a blog is certainly new and different to me alright! 😀

These summer holidays, I have set myself the goal to read at least 20 books by the end of these 6 weeks. So far, I have already read 13 books, all at least 250 pages long and in only 2 weeks!! I am really proud of this (although it does tell me how much of a social life I have am I right?!) and if I continue to read at this pace, I will most definitely surpass this goal I have set myself (which is I suppose the whole point I set it out to be ‘only’ 2o books hehehehe). The books I have already read have been stack up on top of each other into a really tall pile, like the leaning tower of books (hahahaha… excuse my extremely crappy humour and jokes) but each time I look at that pile it just makes me all happy and giddy inside. I don’t know why but it just does (maybe it’s a fangirl thing?? Anyone out there to confirm this?!).

Anyways, wishing everyone a very happy new year and hopefully everyone has had a very merry Christmas 😀
